Candidate is the entry level in the International Society of Appraisers. To become a Candidate, one must complete the membership application and pay the appropriate fee for membership. ISA will then send character reference request forms to the references you list on your application. When at least three of them have been returned in good standing you will become a Candidate to the International Society of Appraisers.
The membership fee is $400 for annual dues and a one-time processing fee of $75. If a member of your firm is already an ISA member, the processing fee is reduced to $25.
ISA believes that formal training is required in today's increasingly technical society. That was the motivation for ISA to develop the first appraisal studies training, based on a standardized body of knowledge, in 1982. To become a Member of ISA, candidates must complete the Core Course in Appraisal Studies and document at least three years market related experience in a chosen specialty field.
It is just good business practice in our litigious society to work to an established professional standard and to abide by a strict code of ethics. Members agree to abide by the ISA Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct.
